It's only theorizing... but since the lotus planet was pink, and lotuses often appeared in the Helly Belly upon death, there is possibly some relation between the planet and the pink haze. Supposedly the incidents of the past Eudora tour also started after visiting the lotus planet.
Oh, yeah... I guess some people were saying that maybe something there made the Eudora "sick," but like... was the Eudora always a living thing? Because it really seems like it is... [ looking cautiously at the walls. ]

But it could also be a living bacteria took on the ship and made itself comfortable and grow within its walls.
