[me copypasting a note into my threads bc it's going in all of them: scien's changed back into his rumpled outfit except it's probably more obvious than ever than he doesn't have his left arm because the sleeve is just floppily trailing next to him. on that sleeve, there is a new bloodstain on it like it was used to wipe something. help!
but at some point scien will approach luke they're gonna talk a science i'm sorry]
You. Busybody. You made an attempt to hack into their system before, correct?
[SCIEN REALLY IS SO PRETTY... NO WONDER HE INSPIRED THE Y OMEGA UNION....
Luke is also in his normal clothes, minus the camera. He's just sitting in the lounge for now, leaning on his right arm as he looks at the I.R.I.S. screen on his left. He glances up at Scien--he's definitely down to talk science, but ??? HELLO? BLOODSTAIN??? Unfortunately he is too observant to not notice that.]
Yeah, I did. [BUT FIRST, a nod to the stain.]--You okay?
[well, you're probably minding your own business, having a little walk throughout the ship.
and then it hits! with your next breath, there is a sudden, debilitating pain that rattles throughout your system. it starts in your chest and then spreads throughout your body, setting every nerve aflame as though every inch of you is being stabbed. the pain is constant, no alleviation, just a new burst of it with every breath you take.
and then the flicker disappears.
and scien is about three feet away, playing suika game on his I.R.I.S. one-handed. ]
WELL. THIS IS POSSIBLY GOING TO BE A VERY SHORT THREAD,,,
Because, you see. This--it's startling, a terrible thing to get hit with out of nowhere. Even as a flicker, a reflection of someone else's experience, it hurts. It blossoms and spreads like a flame racing along gasoline, and no matter how brief, it's impossible to miss.
--But apart from halting in his steps and standing, highly tense, Luke shows almost no outward reaction. He freezes up, and his hands are stiff, as if poised to lash out with claws--but he doesn't. He just waits, his breathing shallow, for it to pass, his eyes fixed at a point on the wall.
And then he just sticks his hands in his pockets and keeps strolling by as if nothing happened. His gaze does flick to Scien as he passes, but that's about it.]
[okay well the vibes are still tipsy. scien is probably just lounging on one of the public couches, with dahut's big hoodie on his lap like a blanket (bring back the duck blanket...) and an assortment of glasses by him. were they water? let's hope so!
he's definitely horizontal, and trying to play tetris.... not going too hot....]
... they increased the difficulty to make it harder...
[The way I asked for this purely because Throné described drunk Scien and it sounded so cute and funny (Throné voice) He was amazed by me being able to move my hand
Anyway Luke is here, and his vibes are also tipsy except that they veer over into Concerned when he spots Scien.]
Oh, Scien! [Fuss, fuss] Are you still drunk? Do you need water--oh. [ALL THESE GLASSES...]
Luke wasn't lying about checking in with the senior crew, but he also went off to skulk about in depression over not being able to help out on the living side... there are only so many places to go, though, and the hunger drives him back in search of snackies anyway.
That's also part of the reason he doesn't wave off the offer; he pauses, hesitating, then takes the cracker with a nod of thanks. He doesn't eat it right away, though, just looking at it for a moment.]
...Do you think he's going to try again? [To take himself out, he means. Charles managed to stop Eunhyuk in trial, and he's supposedly going to be guarded in the brig, but that doesn't necessarily mean anything.]
Luke spends most of his time in the tech lab, of course, but he emerges often enough that they can probably run into each other anywhere. He pauses, brow furrowing slightly, and approaches.]
[The way Luke is unhappy about this tie but Scien is like, the least useful person in the graveyard for emotions!!!
Maybe that's for the best, though. It's kind of what Luke needs, right now--something close to the hardened exterior he got used to wearing on the front lines, someone who cares more about the hows than the whys. Luke doesn't want to dwell on his own frustration and helplessness, so when he finds Scien, he'll take the opportunity to come over. He can't help the dragon tail still swishing in agitation behind him, but otherwise, he's outwardly calm.]
[well, that's fair enough. scien doesn't even seem fazed, instead working on another set of cameras. he has another two finished, and is still working on more still. they seem slightly different from the initial ones he left to luke, instead their design altered to correspond better to the one luke was making...]
Unsurprising, but inconvenient. It would help if we could pin down an origin for the malfunction rather than just theorize—nanites can cause errors in anyone's behavior, but if it's a slow-spreading contagion that's different.
[blanket memshare catching starter that i'm throwing into everyone's catchalls let me know if you want to start with a memory or i will!! this is so lazy but i'm assuming we're all writing the memories right now woohoo]
[I'm gonna be so real right now I have two things I want to give you but I haven't written either of them so IF YOU COULD GO FIRST I WOULD LOVE THAT FOREVER GRABS YOUR HANDS]
[wipes my tears and comes back here after inflicting the madness on everyone
FOR NOW THERE IS A TEMPORARY RESPITE. In the future? Who knows. But he's settled in the less-shitty library now, probably half-curled into a chair with a book. He glances up, nodding at him.]
Did he tell you what happened? [Their adventure...]
[assumes that they're going to cross paths eventually!!! scien is still working on the monitor, though it looks just about done.... and he will just ask, even though he doesn't fully expect an answer]
[They will!! When Luke returns, he's freshly showered; I forgot to mention this yesterday but his clothes have been mended. Kind of. Some of the stitching is worse than the rest.]
Stress relief. [I was tempted to let the innuendo stand but the dice said no. Tch.] Went for a run.
[Waits the appropriate amount of time for Scion to get their makeouts out of the way
And for Dion and Margaret to sort themselves out or whatever. That's important too I GUESS.
But for all that he's a liar who would absolutely have just waited to punch Dion again in private if he felt like it--he sticks to his word. He'd meant it, after all, when he said he knew that Dion wasn't himself; objectively, this week was no different than any of the ones that came before. He's still not happy, exactly, but he's satisfied, and that's enough.
So eventually, they will cross paths again, probably either in the canteen or the tech lab because. Of course. He glances up from whatever he's working on, then back down to it.]
Are you happy?
[Since apparently everyone came to watch the show??? So funny]
[you are so hopeful and i have nothing for you but disappointment
anyway it's probably the tech lab. scien is... holding another monitor that seems to only be in the early stages of building? where did the first one go. anyway.]
Isn't that the question I should be asking you?
[since luke is the one who just hit the guy after he died?]
[SHAKES EVEN HARDER THAN BEFORE FOR WILDLY DIFFERENT REASONS
Okay. Well. This is now post-experiment and probably post-town hall, late in the day. Most likely, they all disperse--but eventually Luke will loop back around to come find Scien again, and sling an arm around his shoulders to start to lead him somewhere. I truly wish I could do something cuter but alas.]
[honestly after the party, scien probably went into an even more intense recluse mode to make up for the fact that they had to interact with so many people. he's been dead for so long he forgot what it was like to have to entertain so many conversations.
but by mid-day thursday he's a bit better. sort of. he will accept certain people's company. so that's he walks over to wherever luke is working on and just puts down a tray that has two baozi... scien picks up one to eat and just silently chows down next to him.
the reverse uno of scien feeding someone else for once]
[Scien really said "I'll show you all the meaning of a true introvert"
But that's fine, probably. Luke definitely made sure everyone made it back safely, and he probably checked in with Dahut after Scien holed up for a while, but otherwise he's left him alone. Luke, too, needed a bit of a break after all the honest apologies he had to offer.
Shockingly, he is not in the tech lab: He is sitting on the floor of one of the libraries, even though he clearly has an item and some tools spread out in front of him. He glances up as Scien joins him, and can't help smiling a little upon seeing what he's got; he shifts the way he's sitting almost automatically to let Scien lean on his shoulder, if he wants to.]
[hate to tell everyone this but scien is absolutely covered in grease and rust it's embarrassing. from the neck down, he's a disaster. this hopefully won't come as a surprise especially to luke of all people.
he makes a gesture with his new hand that gave everyone a jumpscare]
[ONCE AGAIN... THEY ARE TWINSIES... though Luke is probably not as bad off as Scien because he's only got the one body and it has enough problems as it is. But still... THE GREASE. He tried a jacket earlier but now he's just in a T-shirt because he has learned that layering won't do any good.
[THEY'RE FINALLY FREED... Luke loyally stayed with everyone else despite knowing the back door was unlocked. Amen. Mini-event sucked for him (though presumably Yves is fine) and he definitely also went to take a shower, and probably a nap somewhere private. But now he's back in the tech lab as usual!
He looks up and catches it on reflex.]
A "please" wouldn't kill you. [But he doesn't really care, which is clear by his tone. He takes it obediently starts resetting the puzzle, probably using a real method that I'm too sleepy google.] Have fun?
Well Luke probably hovered for a little while because he is still as fussy as he's ever been, but he predictably nyoomed off to take care of Margaret even before the four hours were up, because he is extra insane about his water bottles and Margaret has been one of them even before she died. She didn't sign up for this but here we are.
But eventually he will come back for this stupid hamster. He will even bring him a nice warm bun from Epc*t? Amazing.]
[MARGARET REALLY DIDN'T ASK FOR THIS BUT IT'S FINE because scien probably is just exhausted and tired and annoyed. he's so moody. it's hilarious how moody. but he'll probably just be somewhere, changed into comfy clothes that are still somehow falling off of him. he has a steaming mug of a warm drink that he's pulled his sleeves of his hands to sweater paw.... gap moe.]
Barely injured. Just my pride.
[but even then he's mostly fine.... he pats for luke to sit next to him]
Anyway--at some point after Gregor gets settled in, Luke will come track down Scien!! I assume he's in a lab or playing suika as usual, and half the time Luke just comes to bother him rudely, but today he will be nice.]
but scien will be actually found in the gardens instead of any lab! he's found something comfy to wear, and his hair is down and damp again—but at least it's not because he drowned. a blanket is already settled on his shoulders (thanks dahut) and in his sweater pawed hand he has a mug of hot cocoa.....
his gaze fixates on a particular patch of flowers, as if searching for something among them. when he hears footsteps, this time he actually turns his head.]
[Luke can't be found for the first several hours of his return--at least not by anyone that isn't already with him. And there was a point, earlier, when he'd been calm enough to seek the others out, but then the rat chaos happened and one of them reminded him of Rosa, which sent helpless agony through him so severe that he had to retreat, and. Yeah.
ANYWAY. There's time before the party and he's calmed down again by then, his emotions dampened to numbness. He's finally able to come find Scien, not yet draped in his own comfortable clothes, which is probably for the best because they're uglier than whatever plain shirt he's got on now. NOT IMPORTANT.]
Yeah. [Physically, he's fine--though the ruins of false lives sit in the back of his head, threatening to resurface at any time.] Are you?
but auction items are unlocked :) which means that in the stasis bay, where scien had been spending a solid amount of his time, he's looking at the now glowing, active, awake reliver machine. it thrums with a foreboding energy and scien is at one of the monitors, running a diagnostics check. whenever luke wanders in, scien glances up but then gets back to work]
Have you figured out a way to manage your condition?
[The way I could've given Luke his medicine for his auction item... but no... nerd shit!!!
Anyway Luke is here--he probably came to track Scien down on purpose, because he's a social guy and he's very glad to be back with everyone again, but sometimes you've known someone for almost eight weeks instead of less than one and you want that familiarity.
He looks over the machine with interest, but he doesn't ask about it right away. He doesn't answer right away, either, though the look on his face isn't hesitant so much as... pensive.
He said he gave Dahut blood samples and that he'll talk to him again soon. I'll check in with Dahut to make sure he followed through with it. And I'll come in whenever you're free, for the rest.
I plan on talking to Margaret to make sure we can all stay in communication after we're out of here. But if you don't hear from us within six months, I'd like you to move forward with activating our Reliver backups. Is that okay?
[scien texts for luke to meet him in the medbay, which scien has turned into his personal work station
he'll point at a handful of canisters that have so many pills in them]
Painkillers. They're akin to what I used on myself to manage the discomfort.
I don't have all my technology here, but once I return to the Institute and take care of some things, I can manage your case. I should be able to cure you in perhaps... three months, if that, depending on how quickly I finish my other tasks.
For the rest of what's been done to your body, you can decide if you wish to become a Reliver once I figure out how to make them capable of aging, or if you'd like me to continue work on repairing your existing self.
[HELP. Well. He will take this all in... and nod thoughtfully...]
Just a second. [Leaves
And comes back with a blanket and a pillow tucked under one arm. He'll put the pillow down, but he comes over to drape the blanket around Scien's shoulders.]
You should be with Dion tonight, not working on me. [Not that he's ungrateful, of course, but--still.]

but auction items are unlocked :) which means that in the stasis bay, where scien had been spending a solid amount of his time, he's looking at the now glowing, active, awake reliver machine. it thrums with a foreboding energy and scien is at one of the monitors, running a diagnostics check. whenever luke wanders in, scien glances up but then gets back to work]
Have you figured out a way to manage your condition?

Anyway Luke is here--he probably came to track Scien down on purpose, because he's a social guy and he's very glad to be back with everyone again, but sometimes you've known someone for almost eight weeks instead of less than one and you want that familiarity.
He looks over the machine with interest, but he doesn't ask about it right away. He doesn't answer right away, either, though the look on his face isn't hesitant so much as... pensive.
At length:]
If I asked you, what would you say?

Week 7, Wednesday
He said he gave Dahut blood samples and that he'll talk to him again soon. I'll check in with Dahut to make sure he followed through with it. And I'll come in whenever you're free, for the rest.
I plan on talking to Margaret to make sure we can all stay in communication after we're out of here. But if you don't hear from us within six months, I'd like you to move forward with activating our Reliver backups. Is that okay?

he'll point at a handful of canisters that have so many pills in them]
Painkillers.
[right to business, isn't it scien]

Just a second. [Leaves
And comes back with a blanket and a pillow tucked under one arm. He'll put the pillow down, but he comes over to drape the blanket around Scien's shoulders.]
You should be with Dion tonight, not working on me. [Not that he's ungrateful, of course, but--still.]
