[well, you're probably minding your own business, having a little walk throughout the ship.
and then it hits! with your next breath, there is a sudden, debilitating pain that rattles throughout your system. it starts in your chest and then spreads throughout your body, setting every nerve aflame as though every inch of you is being stabbed. the pain is constant, no alleviation, just a new burst of it with every breath you take.
and then the flicker disappears.
and scien is about three feet away, playing tetris on his I.R.I.S. one-handed. ]
shu does falter a little at just how sudden and sharp that burst of pain is, especially when coming out of absolutely nowhere like that. the emotion sharing has been frequent enough now that he’s come to figure whatever isn’t his own emotions must be coming from whoever is nearby at the time. but the physical echoes? those have been rarer. and definitely not as intense as this one.
his eye scrunches a little, as he presses his hand to his chest like he expects it to come away coated in blood. he holds the hand there until the sensation flickers away, as if it was going to do anything to help. ]
…
[ ugh. ]
If that was from you, then I’m kind of impressed you’re not on the floor.
this is the void but wherever this void is, scien is occupying himself. he's walking forward with purpose, checking every area in which a door can close or there is a visible vent. every screen, he taps and sees what modifications he can make with his I.R.I.S. he is making himself busy
it's probably to distract from this cycle going on in his system. his emotions have been fucked up all week - they still are. but now there is this slow, continuing, growing sense of anger. it builds and builds and builds until it - stalls. disappears. and then it starts the process all over again. like a computer overheating.
but he still proceeds onward. he barely acknowledges shu until he asks - ]
[ shu is actually looking at his IRIS. he does glance up when he realises he isn't alone in this particular area of the void, and pauses when he realises who it is that he's come across.
it's not exactly a secret dahut and scien are from the same place, after all. and even if he'd missed the memo, scien's emotions are, well, concerning but understandable to a point. apart from the whole stalling and rebooting process they seem to be going through but-- honestly? any thoughts or feelings about that coming off of shu might be less surprised or confused than you might think. he's felt something like this before. ]
About last night? No. Managed to get hold of the staff to find out about that override and why we were locked in though.
horizontal again i'm sorry this man is really splayed out on the ground looking at the ceiling. his emotions are still in that tight little box bundle, but the strongest one that leaks through is this sense of being lost.]
the mods really handed you emotions week this week, good lord. after his cursory inspection of the holding cells, shu slowly drops himself into a cross legged sprawl on the ground in front of the cell. he has no real idea how to broach the topic of that specific feeling leaking out of scien. not right now, at least.
so, he focuses on the more immediate issue — the one he came here for. ]
Yeah, well. Imagine any populated area without a prison of some sort. It’d be chaos.
but he closes his eyes. there is contemplation at first, like he's thinking of his answer - but then there is a sudden wave of violence. like a moment being relived. it ebbs away and scien's brow furrows, as if parsing through his own emotions]
[does the embed this one single time because otherwise i'm too lazy. just trust me that it's pixel shu.
except it's also not a second later! a little bit like a glitch, it turns into a more unfamiliar asshole. scien brofiise, who takes a moment to look down at see his own one arm.]
You shot me like I had any choice what my avatar appeared as.
[but then he'll glitch back to pixel shu.... sorry]
[ rng tells me it's the library, which might be fitting. after all that excitement, shu is just sat somewhere in a quiet corner of the room. smoking, like he thinks this whole ship is a smoking designated zone, and looking at something on his iris.
he'll wave when he realises he's not alone though. hello. ]
[scien has been back two days and in those days, he first lost an arm and then he regained one. that's right! somehow scien already had both arms back! that much is probably obvious from how he's walking around (somewhere. anywhere. void.) messing with the IRIS with one hand and eating a piece of bread with the other.
but that's not the only thing. nearly two months ago, one might remember that scien's emotions were... not quite right the last time people could share feelings. echoes of what they should be. never that strong. more like small little bumps rather than the highs and lows of true feeling. that's what it meant to be a reliver.
they're getting trapped in a void - ugh memshare! gimme!! - but there is also one very, very immediate feeling in its strongest form: annoyance.
. . . but that's still a real emotion, isn't it? (anyway gimme a memshare or tell me you want one mwah)]
[ i'm glad he's making himself back at home and has regrown a whole arm like a plant (no). honestly shu's... not avoiding people, but the onslaught of so many things that've contended with over the past few weeks - the emotions, the thoughts, the blinking and suddenly there's scales creeping over his knuckles or strange things growing from his skin. the urge to touch people. it's all getting under his skin somewhat.
weekend 0, saturday
when shu walks in, he raises a brow. he's not ignoring him at least. that's something. why are scien starters so hard]

[ he raises a brow back. good talk. ]
Driven to drink already? [ says the man also walking into a bar. ]

It subsides quickly enough in others I've noticed, but if you don't want to endure it again, I'd suggest keeping your distance.
